Ok, so the American Library Association conference in D.C. was great – and I took home lots of free books from publishers for teens which we will be adding shortly.  I also got to hear some of my favorite authors speak – including Judy Blume and Lois Lowry, and got to meet teen favorites Chris Crutcher and Simone Elkeles.  Here’s a couple pictures from my trip…

Before I forget – Monday, June 25 @ 6pm is our program on Letterboxing – I’m not going to explain it here – that’s what the program is for!  Anyway, if you like the outdoors, hiking, being with family, friends, or being one your own, a little adventure, some clues…you’ll love letterboxing.  Pam Montstream is an experienced letterboxer (is that really a word?) anyway, she will guide us through the terms, rules and give us some guidance on how to start this great hobby or help those of you already involved to bump up your game and find or hide more letterboxes!!!  And just for you guys, I’ll tell you that we are going to hide one verrrrrrry close by….

Well I’m off to the American Library Association conference this weekend in Washington D.C> Hope to return with some cool free stuff and ok, some good ideas too.  I hope when I get back that someone has actually posted something on this site – other than me…..

Summer Reading kicks off on Wednesday, June 20 @ 6pm!  You can sign up for the Teen Summer Reading Program starting then – anyone entering Grade 6 or up in the fall can participate.  The theme goes along with the “Get a Clue” theme, but for YA’s it’s “You Never Know” @ your library!  We have lots of fun stuff planned – from a Deal or No Deal game, to a scavenger hunt, to a fun auction at the end where you can bid on great prizes with your ‘Marlbucks’ you earn all summer!  We’ve got an iPod and lots of gift cards to great places so stay tuned and we hope to see you at kick-off night!
