So the TEEN SILENT AUCTION has just concluded, and here is the list of winners!  Congrats to everyone who participated in the Summer Reading Program – this program has grown every year with your help, and the following people have some cool prizes to show for it!

Monday, Aug 24 – Thurs, Aug 27:  those who DID NOT WIN at the Silent Auction may come into RML and trade in their MarlBucks as follows:

5 MarlBucks to choose a book (limit 2)

1 MarlBuck for a piece of candy (limit 10)

ANYTHING GOES! All MarlBucks accepted by all. WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!

The Teen Silent Auction runs from now until 3pm on Friday, August 21

You may still earn MarlBucks until then – stop by RML for rules and a list of items up for bid!

And excited to be back at RML with all the fun summer stuff we have going on!  So here are some reminders:

• Week #6 of ‘Catch the Art Thief’ has been posted
• Thursday at 1pm we have Generation T-shirt with Theresa Healy – call to register – don’t forget, you can earn $20 MarlBucks by attending a program
• Friday at 11am is Flow Circus – a fun variety arts, juggling, comedy, magic show for all ages – you can earn MarlBucks for that one too!
• We will be accepting artwork for the Teen Art Show until Tuesday, August 11 – it doesn’t have to be a masterpiece, just fun!
• I can’t think of anything else for the moment – must still have beach sand in my ears…

This THURSDAY, July 23 @ 11am / ages 12 & up

Join Theresa Healy as she explores symbolism and what cultures use body art for.  Then, design your very own symbol and turn it into a henna tattoo that you can wear!  Call the Library to register at 295-6210

Here’s a pic I took of some kids from Netto Camp at the computer – the camp comes down usually on Tuesdays to borrow books. The kids were playing the “World of Goo” – a totally fun and addictive game on our kids computer at RML – (plus parents like it b/c you have to actually use your brain and your knowledge of physics and all that stuff!)

Just a reminder:

If you hand in a Teen Book Review on paper at RML, tell the staff at the desk so you get to play “Don’t Forget the Lyrics”! You have to trade in your $1 MarlBuck to play, but hopefully you’ll win more!

If you submit a review via this blog, you can still play “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” when you come in to RML – tell the staff person your name…

*******Unfortunately, we had to cancel the Cooking With Katie class for this past Thursday, but we hope to reschedule for the fall – if you are interested and just couldn’t come to this one, please let us know!

It’s not too late to come to “Cooking with Katie” this Thursday at 6pm.  Cookbook (for teens) author Katie Wilton will be here at RML for a hands-on cooking class where YOU get to make recipes including Pizza Wontons, Yogurt Fruit Shakes, and Parmesan Pita Triangles. (And you get to sample all the food too!)

Sorry for the delays – changes to the way you post on this blog have thrown me for a loop lately. But alas, everything for the Teen Summer Reading Program is just about set.

If you haven’t yet, you can register at RML – there may be some sticker sheets for your phones and mp3s still left – ask at the desk.  Also check out our programs which can earn you extra MarlBucks if you attend.

We have made a great effort at RML this summer to have at least one and in many cases multiple copies available of the Summer Reading books on your list.  Please be respectful of others and  adhere to the rules for these titles:

Each STUDENT may have only 2 Reading List books out at a time.

You may place a hold on these titles, but please try to pick them up in a timely manner to decrease waiting time.

Reading List books may NOT be renewed.

Summer Reading Kick-off starts Tues,
June 23 @ 6pm! “Express Yourself @
Your Library”

Teens ages 12 & up can participate in the “Express Yourself” Summer Reading Program at RML.  Upon sign-up, you will recieve all the information you need to play “Where Art Thou?” games thru this blog and at RML. Once again, you can earn MarlBucks to be used in the end-of-summer Teen Silent Auction.  This year, you will also be able to trade in your MarlBucks that are not used in the Auction for some small prizes at the end of the summer.

I hope to have all the Summer Reading info up on this blog by Tuesday so stay tuned and stop in at RML to register!
